Ania is a certified French Chef. She took courses at the Cordon Bleu in Paris and graduated from the Dubrille French Culinary Academy. She operated a successful catering company in Nanaimo for more than a decade. She published articles and recipes in Essence magazine (go to our Great Links page for some of her articles). She recently retired and now enjoys presenting superb breakfasts and entertaining her guests at the Pine and Picket. Ania’s passion is her culinary creations (grandchildren too!) and the joy this brings to anyone sitting at her table.
Ingvar is a Litigation Paralegal working with people injured in car accidents to ensure that they are properly compensated for their losses. His hobbies include woodworking, restoring vintage army jeeps, singing, and gardening and boating with Ania. He enjoys the art of communication and speaks Spanish and French at conversational levels and is able to speak several other European languages at more limited levels. Ania's first language is Polish and she continues to speak it fluently.

For many years, Ania and Ingvar hosted ESL students from Mexico, Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Many came with very limited English language skills and had never been away from their parents or their home countries before. Ania and Ingvar created a warm, loving environment that quickly took those fears away.

Ania and Ingvar both share a love of the international flavour of Canada’s West Coast and you will find their home and gardens are a wonderful blend of many styles and tastes. They have close friends and business acquaintances with similar beliefs all over Vancouver Island so just let them know what you want to see and experience on your vacation here and they will be able to make it happen with a personal touch!
